Thoughts on software and project management

About

I grew up in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, home of Seymour Cray (the father of super computing) and Cray Research.  I was lucky enough to have access in high school to a computer lab funded by Cray Research, where we built a Hero Robot and programmed on Motorola 6800 Micro-controllers using low level programming.

My first career out of college (University of Wisconsin) was as a management consultant for both Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting.  Good times.

Eventually I decided to consult on my own and provided manufacturing consulting to firms including 3M, Harley-Davidson, and GE Health Care.  Those were the biggies, there were other, smaller companies too.

After watching the tech bubble of the late 90′s, I decided to get back into software.  I teamed up with Jon Larkowski to build small e-commerce sites and eventually became a software project manager for the State of Wisconsin (as a contractor).

Jon and I would eventually launch InboxFox.com along with another partner Mark McEahern.  Eventually, Mark and I would launch ForeclosureAlarm.com and CircuitCourtPro.com, while Jon went on to join Hashrocket in Jax Beach, FLA.

Today, I’m working on another startup with Mark.  It is, of course, super ultra top secret.

My other startup is with Preston Austin and is in Beta.  Imby is an attempt to help professional networking in the local marketplace – as opposed to LinkedIn, which is more of a nationally and internationally focused system.  It is a big swing, with a low probability of success, but a potentially big win.  It depends on network effects, and thus there is a chicken/egg problem to be worked through.

I am always interested in working with other talented people and firms.  Please contact me if you are looking for a seasoned project manager.  I just may have available bandwidth at this time.
